The process of designing a new home can seem overwheming to some. At Axis Architecture and Design, we try to make that process as easy and enjoyable as possible. We start the process with an initial client meeting, where we will sit down with you and discuss what your needs are, your budget, and your timeframe to get started with construction. We will listen intently to everything that you want in your new home, the layout that you would like, and the style that you are looking for.
Prior to starting the preliminary design of your new home, we can also help with site selection if you do not already have a piece of property on which to construct your home.
After the client meeting, a proposal will be drafted outlining the services we will provide for you, and the related costs of our services. Once we receive a signed proposal from you, we will begin the design process. We start with the floor plan first, and get all the rooms laid out exactly as you would like. Then we'll design the exterior elevations. Once we have received your approval on the preliminary design, we will begin work on the next phase, the construction document package.
After completion of the preliminary design, we will work with your builder to make sure your new home comes in on budget. If you have not selected a builder, we can also help with that process.
After approval of the preliminary design, we will begin work on the construction document package. These are the drawings that the builder will use to construct your new home. This package typically includes a site plan, a foundation plan, floor plans, elevations, door and window schedules, exterior details and electrical drawings. All drawings will be noted and dimensioned.
After completion of the construction document package, we are also available to provide construction site visits, to make sure that your new home is being constructed as the house was designed.
If you have an existing home that you wish to renovate, the design process follows the same course as with a new house. The only difference will be that we will take accurate measurements and photos of your existing house, so that we can arrive at a starting point for the design of your renovation.
No renovation is too large or too small for us. No matter the size, we will strive to make the design of your renovation appear seemless with the existing structure and look as though it was all original.
